Solidworks is an excellent drawing software. Many excellent students and engineers are using it as an important tool for work and research. In the numerous modeling processes, it is crucial to improve work efficiency.
In our modeling process, we use the most frequent commands for sketching, stretching, cutting, chamfering, and rounding; Measurement, insertion of parts (assembly), wireframe display, shaded border display.
To this end, I optimized the shortcut key settings for the mouse and keyboard. Simply put, operating the mouse with one hand, operating the keyboard with the other hand, and using both hands can increase the drawing speed by more than 60%.
Keyboard Setting
Taking the use of the keyboard with the left hand as an example, it is necessary to set all the shortcut keys for commonly used commands on the left hand keyboard. Taking my shortcut key settings as an example, I am designing non-standard automation and have shortcut settings for the most commonly used feature commands. However, sheet metal and welding parts are occasionally used, and the frequency is not very high. Therefore, I only made one shortcut key
Mouse Setting
I believe many engineers rarely use mouse shortcuts. Actually, using the mouse shortcut keys well can greatly improve your drawing speed.
The mouse shortcut keys need to be set in the command, which can be set to 4 keys, 8 keys, and 12 keys as shown in the table. I personally prefer an 8-key one because there are too few 4-key functions and the accuracy of the 12 key operation is difficult to control.
Set the commands for sketch and drawing 8 keys separately. When using them, simply hold down the right mouse button and drag in either direction to display the mouse shortcut commands. After being proficient in using it, you can even blindly open a command. For example, when I place the command to draw a circle in the 45 ° direction and call it, I only need to hold down the right mouse button and slide towards the 45 ° direction, and the command to draw a circle will appear. This is much more than searching for blocks in the command bar every time.
By setting up the keyboard and mouse shortcuts and practicing them frequently, I believe your drawing speed will definitely soar.
